Don't Stress, Stay Blessed

It is said that too much stress can kill you. Well, that is not just a saying but a proven medical fact. Stress can cause many problems not only to your peace of mind but to your body as well. "Stress happens to everyone, but since you can't avoid your job, bills, or life, the best thing to do is learn to manage the stress. This includes eating healthy, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, and taking care of yourself in general." , says Jackie Damboragian, health coach at the Dr. Frank Lipman's Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in NYC." (Cardellino). Studies show that stress can also cause serious damage to our skin. When we worry or stress out too much, our skin will suffer. "Stress causes a chemical response in your body that makes skin more sensitive and reactive. It can also make it harder for skin problems to heal." (WebMd.com).

According to the Word of God, we should not worry or let stress get to us. The Apostle Matthew wrote, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." -Matthew 6:34 (NIV). That is definitely some good advice, in fact following it should help us sleep better because we are focusing on one day at a time. And that is precisely what has worked for me for years. That is why one of my favorite quotes is, "I'm too blessed to be stressed."

To worry, or not to worry, that is the question. Let's face it, worry and stress are part of life. Therefore, we must commit to treating our body well, not only because it will help us feel better, but because it will help us stay looking healthy and refreshed. God loves us and He is interested in our physical, emotional and spiritual well being. That is why the Apostle Peter suggested that we,"Cast all your anxiety on him [Jesus] because he cares for you." -1 Peter 5:7 (NIV). And because God cares, we know that we can come to him with our burdens and receive His stress-relieving peace (Psalm 55:22). So, how about adding prayer as part of our beauty treatment this new year? It's free and it will do our spirit and and our skin good!
